Australia vs Pakistan second Test LIVE: Aussies look to pile on pain with a big win insight

Cummins’ Australians do a Pakistan on Pakistan: During the interminable Rawalpindi Test match, Waqar Younis conveyed a story that spoke much about how Pakistan operated at their best in his time.

Australia Vs Pakistan Second Test Live

The wily leg spinner Mushtaq Ahmed used to curse Waqar and Wasim Akram in the field, not without reason. The moment Mushtaq’s wrist spin claimed a wicket, the pacemen would be called in to wreak havoc on new batters with reverse swing.

Years later in the commentary box at his nation’s former fortress in Karachi’s National Stadium, Waqar would not have totally enjoyed the passage of day three.

Australia’s perfect day

Greetings, everybody

Hello everyone and welcome to our rolling coverage of day four of the second Test between Pakistan and Australia from Karachi.

The Aussies were in an incredibly dominant position at stumps on day three at 1-81 with a lead of 489 runs.

You wouldn’t expect them to bat for much longer today, but captain Pat Cummins has kept us guessing for most of this match and his strategy has been completely vindicated to this point.

After skittling the hosts for 148 yesterday, well short of Australia’s 9-556 (declared), first-innings century-maker Usman Khawaja (35) and Marnus Labuschagne (37) are the not-out batsman. David Warner (seven) is the only Australian to fall so far in the second dig.

There are only two possible results from here: an Australian win or a draw, and it would take a monumental performance from Pakistan in the final two days to avoid defeat.
