All eyes were on Virat Kohli on Sunday. Did not get a run in the first innings. His last Test century was two and a half years ago. In Eden. Against Bangladesh. That too was a day and night test called pink. Everyone was watching to see if that century could end the drought in Bangalore. But he could not. He returned with 13 runs in the second innings.

Mayank Agrawal (22 runs), Rohit Sharma (48 runs) and Hanuma Bihari (35 runs) were set at the crease but were dismissed. Panth returned with 50 runs. Shreyas Iyer scored 6 runs.

Rishabh Pant dominated the day-night Test against Sri Lankan (Ind vs SL) bowlers by saying pink. On the second day of the match, he made a storm at 22 yards with the bat. With that, Kapil Dev broke the record. Roorkee’s wicketkeeper-batsman completed his half-century off just 26 balls. Panthai became the fastest Indian cricketer to score a half-century in a Test.

Forty years ago, in 1962, the legendary Kapil hit a half-century off 30 balls against Pakistan in Karachi. He was the owner of the fastest half-century among Indians in Tests. Shardul Tagore came close to that record against England at the Oval last year. However, Kapil could not break the record. Shardul made a half century off 31 balls. Panth broke Kapil’s 40-year-old record by completing 50 off 26 balls on Sunday. He had six fours and a pair of sixes in his innings. In the end, the young wicketkeeper was dismissed for 50 off 31 balls.

Yashpreet Bumra took the only wicket of Sri Lanka in the second innings.
