Nauman Ali says I am living my dreams playing for Pakistan

Veteran left-arm spinner Nauman Ali says that playing for Pakistan is an absolute honor and dream come true for him.

Ali made these remarks in a video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He said, “I made my debut at the age of 34 and it was like a dream come true playing for my country.”

“I was very lucky to make my debut in National Stadium Karachi. I have fond memories of performing on this venue in domestic cricket and thankfully I was able to make my dream debut for Pakistan versus South Africa,” Nauman further added

Nauman made his debut for Pakistan against South Africa in January 2021 in National Stadium Karachi and bagged a fifer in the second innings. The spinner finished with figures of 5/35 in 25 overs to turn the game in the home side’s favor and finished the Test match with match figures of 7/73 in 42.3 overs which included 12 maidens.

The 35-year-old speaking about his cricketing journey said that at one stage he did think he will never represent Pakistan but never lost hope and God has rewarded me for my hard work.

“I never gave up hope and kept performing in domestic tournaments for Northern and was able to impress the selectors.”

Nauman was picked for the national side after stellar performances in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. The left-armer bagged 61 wickets in the 2020-21 season while picked up 54 wickets in the season prior to that.
