Australia has toured Pakistan for the first time since 1998 when Mark Taylor-led Kangaroos visited the South Asian country. This time, Australia will play three Tests, three ODIs, and a one-off T20I match against Pakistan. Earlier, the two teams met in either Sharjah, UAE, Sri Lanka, or even England as international cricket went missing from Pakistan after the 2009 terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team.

The nation.com.pk has reported that the tickets for all five days of the first Test between Pakistan and Australia to be played in Rawalpindi from March 4 have been sold out. The day, when Kangaroos returned to Pakistan was the day, the PCB managed to conduct a successful final match of the HBL PSL 7 and the brimming house-full stadium was the proof that the nation loves to see their stars in action.

Meanwhile, in order to commemorate this historic tour, the Pakistan Cricket Board and Cricket Australia have introduced the Benaud-Qadir trophy to celebrate Australia’s first Test series in Pakistan in 24 years. The trophy will be a perpetual one and will be presented after every men’s Test series played between the two countries.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam and Australia captain Pat Cummins unveiled the Benaud-Qadir Trophy at the Pindi Cricket Stadium ahead of the first Test in honor of the two legendary leg-spinners: Australia’s Richie Benaud and Pakistan’s Abdul Qadir.

A legendary player and broadcaster, Benaud passed away in 2015. On the other hand, Qadir passed away suddenly at the age of 63 in 2019.
